First of all, I thank God for the
blessing, because without one we couldn't be here. And I also want to thank Ms.
Dieni and my class for having me here and doing my speech. I here stand as a
high school student who’s going to give her speech to the staff of department
of education
Ladies and Gentlemen
As we all know, that the
department of education made a new curriculum which named “Kurikulum 2013”. This
new curriculum has a tendency to make students depressed. It says that the
students have to be more active than the teachers and the students have to
learn all the chapter at home and ask questions to teacher at school. We,
students do not think that that method is effective to increase our ability in
this high school year.
Why is it not effective? Well,
how are the students going to survive learning all the materials before even
know what is it about. We think it’s going to be a waste of time at either home
or school because if we don’t have someone to guide us while learning a new
material, we don’t have any subject to be asked at school. But in order to make
our report card clean, we attend this course that provides us teacher who can
guide and explain to us about what the subject is.
Ladies and Gentlemen
Beside of the new curriculum, we
also want to share our thoughts about the new obligations. We've heard about
the new school schedule that requires us to have a school day on Saturday. We don’t
think that it’s good for students. Even if it happens and the schedule is cut off
from 3 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. it was still no good for us. Because many of our
parents are not available at home until night, and our family time is only in
weekend which is Saturday and Sunday. And there is another obligation that says
we have to have homework every day after school didn't make us any better. This
will come back to the first problem that I shared, we do not have someone to
guide us at home. Then combine with the new schedule, we have to finish the
homework that we have for Monday on Sunday. So with all of this saying that we
do not have a day off from school work, and we really need time to spend with
our beloved ones. Maybe some of the people here stated us, students as a lazy person
because we don’t want to try to learn something by ourselves. But that is not what
I’m saying. It’s about our time as a teen. We need time to socialize with
others, play outside our houses and make friends with someone who’s not from
our school. Besides, we have to do our chores at home. It’s going to be hard
for us to schedule our activities (school, course, socialize, chores, homework,
rest). If we are restless the whole week, school is going to be a waste because
we couldn't concentrate on anything.
Ladies and Gentlemen
If the department of education
wants to improve the young generation to be a better one, the first thing that
you guys have to do is giving us a good example. From that we could learn from
our surroundings. Second, try to minimize the school subject which is not
really needed in our life later. We didn't say to erase it, but at least let us
take the subject that we liked and from that, school could train us to be a
better at it because we have more time. Third, improve the teachers’ passion of
teaching so they won’t bore us in class, and use an activity that require
creativity.
Ladies and Gentlemen
I think that’s all my speech. I
hope my opinion about your new curriculum and obligations did not offend you
Finally, I would like to say
sorry if there are mistakes in my speech. Thank you very much for your
attention.
that's it, but guys, i really am sorry if the grammar or spelling isn't right because English is not my mother tongue, but then i'm trying to improve mine ;)
